In a world dedicated to money, I still believe (utopia or weakness?) that one can practise an art for the simple pleasure and exchange with others for pure intelectual enrichment.

Traditional music and dance were first shared by communities for enjoying life, forgetting daily problems, and to create or strenghten social links. Likely in these times there was no formalism related to costumes, and some musiciens did play with more or less skill on aproximately built instruments. They often learnt from an older musician who showed his skill without formal training school aspect.

In these times where the rule tends to a uniform culture (maybe a uniform non-culture), I would like this site to be a meeting place for those who still believe that diversity is a wealth. Being part of a special culture does not make anyone superior to his neighbour from a different one. Being born somewhere from parents who are there because of the same chance, cannot make someone proud, but is just a duty to pass cutture on.

Of course this is nly my opinion, and you are free to give your own in the Forum page, which have been designed for this type of use as well as for any other you might find useful.

On this site, you will find traditional music tunes under the following forms:

• printable scores in PNG format,
• tunes in MIDI format,
• audio files in MP3 format

You can download them freely as they are all in the public domain and the formats are free.

You can also sned me some more tunes to complete the database, which will be offered for free to all visitors.

Each music and dance team has now its own page where they introduce themselves, advertise for possible performance and give their contact addresses.

Some pages edicated to traditional music instruments will be added according to dizponibility.

In a near future(I guess) I would like to add the same pages concerning traditional dances asociated with the music tunes. But I will need some help from people who know better than I concerning this subject. There will be some descriptions of dances or short videos. The costumes will be also described, mainly using photos in a first time.
